Pietro is a partner in the Rome office and is a senior member of the tax team. He is both member of the Rome Bar and is registered in the list of Certified Auditors.

 

His area of practice is mainly represented by domestic and international business taxation. He also has a broad experience in tax litigation and represents clients with the Italian Supreme Court, the Court of Justice of EC and the European Court of human rights.  Clients are foreign and domestic multinationals, including some of the major Italian corporations.

 

He is chairman or member of the board of auditors of various major Italian companies.

He is a former Professor of Tax Law in the University of Naples (1973 -1986) and of Rome - La Sapienza (1987-2002).

He has taught international tax law in the High School of the Ministry of Finance and in some seminars to officers of the Tax Police.

Former President of the IFA (International Fiscal Association) now Honorary President. Member of IBA ( International Bar Association) and ABA (American Bar Association).

From 1979 to 1984 he has been member of the European Parliament and from 1984 to 1985 Chairman of the EU ad hoc Committee of Personal Representatives of Chiefs of State or Governments of member States.

Independent person designated from the Italian Ministry of Finance eligible to become a member of the Advisory Commission provided for be the EU Arbitration Convention on the elimination of double taxation in connection with the adjustment of profits of associated enterprises.

He has acted in this capacity as a member of the advisory commission in an arbitration procedure between Italian and France Ministry of Economy and Finance.

He has been member of the Commission for the identification of countries with a favorable tax regime to be included in the Italian black list.

 

He has published more than 100 national and international specialized publications.
